I taught myself C++ in 2009 and used it to learn Win32, game hacking, GUI programming, and more. I enjoy reverse engineering and think of debugging with the scientific method as an art.
Having that knowledge and mentality helped tremendously while studying computer science in college. I find an understanding of low-level concepts to be valuable in my work.
